ABOUT SiNG CHOIR

Founded in 2016, we began as Encore! Choir, affiliated with the local theatre company, Encore! Performing Arts. In 2019, we branched out and created our own identity: SiNG Choir!

At SiNG Choir, we believe that everyone can learn to sing together. Whether you're a trained musician or just sing in the shower for fun, we give you the tools to become a confident chorister and explore exciting new worlds of choral music.

You’ll learn how to sing from sheet music, but don’t worry if you don’t know how to read music. In fact, most of our members hadn’t read music before joining us. We’ll guide you through reading scores and introduce correct musical terminology along the way, so you’re learning as you sing.

Our repertoire changes each term, covering everything from pop, musical theatre, classical, Christmas and international music - you name it!

We aim to perform at least three concerts per year, one each term, and rehearse on Sunday evenings during term time.

We're proud to be a friendly and sociable choir. We always have a break during every rehearsal for tea, coffee and most importantly...cake! Alongside rehearsals and performances, we organise regular social events, ranging from quiz and pizza nights to more formal dinners, helping everyone get to know each other and feel part of the group.

We're always welcoming new members! If you'd like more information about joining us, please visit our Join Us page.

CHOIR LEADER

Sam Griffiths
(DipABRSM, BA Hons, MISM)

Sam is a classically trained pianist with a passion for classical music in all its forms - instrumental, orchestral and choral! He graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Music in 2019 and holds a Diploma in Piano Performance with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

After founding SiNG Choir (originally Encore! Choir), Sam took a pause in 2022 to pursue a career at sea, working as a pianist and Musical Director for major cruise lines including Celebrity Cruises, Marella Cruises and Disney Cruise Line. Since returning to dry land, he is excited to welcome SiNG Choir back in 2026, picking up from where it was left off.

Sam now primarily works as a piano teacher, both privately and at Nottingham Trent University. His current musical director credits include RWS Global (on behalf of Marella Cruises) and Paul Holman Associates pantomimes. He also freelances across Nottingham and Derby as a musician and conductor for a wide range of theatre companies.

Sam is deeply passionate about sharing his musical knowledge and experience and believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn how to sing properly, regardless of background or experience.

Above all, Sam is committed to creating a welcoming and supportive choir where singers can develop their skills, confidence, and love of music together.
